This is a 6-Bottle sampler including:
Algueira Godello - A Spanish white behaving somewhat like white Burgundy, and might prefer that fatter glass you use for your Pinots. It's from Valdeorras in Galicia, grown in black slate.
Goru Verde Monastrell - This red from southeast Spain's Jumilla region is made entirely of Monastrell, better known to some as Mourvedre. Unlike many of its peers, Goru Verde is both flavorful AND balanced.
Acustic - A red from Montsant, the region encircling more famous Priorat. Catalonia's two most important grapes are represented: 70% Carignan and 30% Garnacha. Vibrant BBQ red!
Algueira Menica - We take you back to Galicia for that region's most important red varietal. This is from its sub-region of Ribeira Sacra, with vineyards occupying VERY steep slate-y riverbanks. This is thoughtful cooler-weather red wine akin to Cab Franc and / or Gamay. Serve slightly chilled.
Vina Santurnia Crianza - Rioja, rambunctiously flavored! 100% Tempranillo with lots of bold tobacco, black cherry, and burnt vanilla. This youngster can be enjoyed now and for the next 6-7 years.
Lealtanza Reserva - Here's another visit to Rioja; 100% Tempranillo with a different kind of impact. This one's more passive and mellow; suave, if you will. Enjoy the bottle over three hours' time to observe its development, and your own developing appreciation!
AND we're adding a tub of Marcona almonds. Marconas are more soft and "buttery" than our California-grown version. We bring these in raw and roast them in-house, adding Spanish olive oil, salt, and a mix of dried herbs.
