This is for the REAL wine fans who sniff, ponder, and furtively sip - then rejoice when the experience authentically represents a faraway, dramatic place. This red is based on the Listan Negro grape, grown at higher, volcano-raised elevations of Tenerife (the largest of the Canary Islands of Spain, located off northwest Africa.
It screams "SOURCE!!" with its unmistakably volcanic accent. It is one of the most compellingly delicious wines I've tasted this year, and I recklessly bought all that was left of the vintage.
Serve it slightly chilled with charcuterie (Spanish chorizo!) or anything grilled, volcanic-ally or otherwise!
