 Jim’s Whims:

This just-arrived bottle stands uncorked on my desk and I've greedily poured more than the usual amount for an assessment.  After all, this is one of the very first Rhone wines I remember having back in the mid-90's.  Of course, the crazy-looking bottle is a great mnemonic device!

The wine's color is a fairly dark maroon.  For the nose dark descriptors are also referenced:  Black leather, licorice, bittersweet chocolate, morello cherries.  The place-correct dried herbes also make a welcome appearance.  2015's classicism is verified by the palate.  Heft is balanced by lift.  This wine is flavorfully lithe.  Hoped-for, not-always-achieved sensations of good and durable Chateauneuf indulge and excite the mouth.

The distinctively-packaged La Gardine dropped of our radar years ago but has finally resurfaced with great timing:  It's the terrific 2015 vintage!  Very little comes to the United States but we've accessed a bit.  Grab yours now!
