The Return of Importer Charles Neal With a ton of great grower Champagne and Many other flavorful French Finds (and treats from Tom Switzer?)

If his wardrobe choices are questionable, his wine selections are anything but. Like better-known Kermit Lynch, Charles is a Bay Area resident making many trips to France each year to maintain friendships with his fave producers and forge new ones when he sips something exceptional.

The Champagnes he brings us are of the "grower" type: Small wineries farming their own fruit and representing terrific value in a category not always providing that.

The other wines he finds from the Rhone Valley, Loire Valley, and Burgundy (and others) also shine when measured by the price-to-quality ruler. Then there's his verbosity; Charles has a way of explaining!
We'll pour and he'll elaborate on at least a dozen wines at this encore performance, and I'll endeavor to make those snackworthy Gougeres once again. Our friend Tom Switzer is bound to contribute something delicious as well.
